From the very beginning, there was something about Kalyca that drew me to her. She was confident, smart, direct, no-nonsense, and incredibly kind.

I often think that I don’t know if I would have made it through college without her. Kalyca showed up for me in ways I didn’t even realize I needed at the time. She made sure I got to class, encouraged me to study, organized study groups before exams, and naturally stepped into a leadership role during group projects. She had an incredible ability to see what needed to be done and help the people around her move forward.

But her impact on my life went far beyond college. Kalyca introduced me to experiences and possibilities I had never imagined for myself. She led me through New York City when it felt completely unfamiliar to me and helped me experience Paris—something I never thought was possible for my life at the time.

Looking back, I realize she wasn’t simply taking me places. She was helping me see that there were places I could go, things I could accomplish, and possibilities for myself that I had never considered.

Kalyca helped build my confidence. She encouraged me, challenged me, guided me, and taught me to trust myself. Even today, I can see pieces of what she taught me in the way I make decisions, approach challenges, and navigate life.

Kalyca has been naturally guiding, encouraging, and empowering people long before she ever decided to make it her profession. I am incredibly grateful that our paths crossed. She didn’t just help me get through college—she helped me become who I am today.

Kalyca has been such a steady support for me, especially when I was making the leap to open my own salon. She believed in me, even when I felt unsure. She encouraged me in the big decisions and the small ones, like helping me pick my salon name, B’Lavish, and the look and feel of the space.

Even when it meant extra effort, she continued coming to me as a client because she cared. She’s more than a friend. She’s someone I can talk to, rely on, and trust completely.
